The demand for fresh coconuts keep increasing day in and day out due to the enormous health benefits of the fresh coconut water. Talk not of the demand for the coconut oil derived from copra which is the dried coconut fruit. The Western region; predominantly the Nzema enclave is noted for coconut production but in recent times coconut farming have become a gold mining because of the high demand for both fresh coconut and coconut oil. Within a space of three (3) years, a farmer will start seeing returns in his or her investment. However, economic production starts at year five (5) whiles peak production is realised by tenth (10) year. The tree has a life span of 50 years. With all Good Agricultural Practices put in place, an acre of farm can produce about 6,000 fruits in a year.
